Aquilegia canadensis (Canadian Columbine, Eastern Red columbine, Wild Columbine) is a herbaceous perennial plant of the buttercup family, native to eastern North America.

Leaves are lobed and grouped in 3s, growing from the base and off the flowering stems.

Flowers with red sepals and yellow petals with a red spur appear in late spring on stems above the leaves. The round end of the spur contains nectar.

Photographed in St. Rita, Manitoba, Canada.

Canon XT with 100mm lens, f/5.6, 1/640sec, ISO-200, 100mm focal length with Kenko extension tubes.
