Artist's Description

So this is what was left after the paper cones/coils burnt away from the metal drum containing the paperclay scultptures… like I said, many hours to make and but a few mintues – well maybe 20! – to burn it out. It took some time to cool before it could be moved… As with any firing it’s the anticipation of what will come out…usually not for a few days! Not until I viewed this back on my camera did I see the face! How about you? or is just my imagination getting carried away.

The paperclay sculptures where then taken and suspended from a wire framework, in the shape of a teacup and whale (depending on which way you looked at it) in the Falcon e-Library for all to see.. I should mention the theme was the ocean..

This years Stretch Festival is on this weekend 1st-2nd May on the Mandurah Foreshore… come along and join in the fabulous arts festival. I will be there with the Pottery Place – demonstrating on the wheel (any excuse to get covered in clay) and people can have a go at handbuilding!!
