Artist's Description

Megalith on the Nebrodi Natural Park mountains, in Montalbano Elicona, Sicily. This is called “woman praying”. This megalith is part of a large group that includes several menhirs and dolmens on the top of a mountain in the north of Sicily, at about 1200 m above sea level. The megalithic area is called “Argimusco”. From here it’s possible to see the top of Mount Etna Volcano (on the south) and Stromboli volcano (on the north) in the Eolian islands. According to some studies, this site was sacred for ancient population.
According to Paul Devins, author of the book “Il mistero dell’Argimusco” (italian edition), “the megaliths are in relation with the constellations, not in alignment, as in other megalithic sites in the world, but as a reflection of the same constellations”.
This site is also called “The Sicilian Stonehenge”.
Taken with a Nikon D5100.
