Artist's Description

The picture came first while at the relaxation class then a few weeks later the poem popped out, sometimes it works the other way around and I make a poem and illustrate it but not very often. So my link is to me but two different genres. At two different times.

This picture is thanks to a meditation group and this was my happy place, I thought what a wonderful picture that would make.

My first job was as a rouger, pulling weeds out of the farmers field, and while we ate our lunch we would lie back in the grass and think about nothing, gone are those day. Since we had no summer this year I thought I would recreate that image to cheer myself up.

And a poem that I wrote to go with it.

Sit back,
And close your eyes,
And listen to my voice,
Whether this will work for you,
It simply is your choice,
Let me count some numbers,
And you can rest a while,
Let’s go to,
Your happy place,
Where you can start to smile.

Shut the door and rest awhile,
Let those worries free,
Forget your woes and trust awhile
And listen just to me.
It is a place of beauty,
A place that you feel warm,
It is a place of happiness,
A harbour in a storm.
It is a place of safety,
A place you call your own,
When you open up your eyes again,
Your stresses have all gone.

Don’t think that it is magic,
It has nothing to do with luck,
It simply is a moment when,
You just don’t give a f**k.
To sit and rest your body,
And give your mind a rest,
It means that you feel happier,
And can function at your best.

So go draw the curtains,
Put your calls on hold,
Well? Don’t dilly dally,
Just do what you’ve been told.
Put a sign upon the door,
To keep the people out,
Ask them to be quiet,
There is no need to shout,
Now if your sitting comfortably,
It’s time for me to start,
close your eyes, slip off your shoes,
And listen to your heart.

Sit back,
And close your eyes,
And listen to my voice,
Whether this will work for you,
It simply is your choice,
Let me count some numbers,
And you can rest a while,
Let’s go to,
Your happy place,
Where you can start to smile.
