Details: PURPOSE:
The Graphic Designer shall be responsible for the application of the Sydney Symphony’s brand and season positioning to a suite of marketing and brand communications collateral. The majority focus of the position will be on the development of direct response sales advertisements (print and e), posters, direct mail/EDM collateral aimed at maximizing seasonal, and single event sales. Additional work in the publications, recordings, and outreach programs may be anticipated.


The key responsibilities and associated duties of the position fall into the following main areas:

1. Timely and collaborative design and development of all marketing campaign collateral for regular campaigns including season brochures, weekly sales campaigns, internal and external placements to promote Sydney Symphony’s concert products.
2. Design work to be undertaken within the scope of brand guidelines, and retail sales imperatives.
3. Research and advise the Marketing Managers/Director of Sales & Marketing of industry best practices to be considered for implementation.
4. Participate in the conceptual development of the season positioning and creative strategy.
5. Research and develop familiarity with the key target audiences, and specific segments for which design work is intended.
6. Other reasonable projects and duties as may be required from time to time as directed.

• Familiarity with MS Office and demonstrable and superior skills with leading graphic design software programs.
• Ability to work autonomously and independently as required.
• Superior level interpersonal communication skills.
• Innovative and dynamic approach to creating design outcomes from briefs provided.
• Exceptional retail customer focus and commitment to quality direct response outcomes
• An interest in the performing arts, and music in particular would be of benefit
• An ability to build positive and constructive relationships based on trust, understanding the needs of peers, and delivering on the position’s responsibilities and duties.
• A commitment to work as a team to deliver the highest possible standard of services within Sydney Symphony.

A minimum of 3 years experience in a graphic design role (or equivalent experience). Tertiary qualifications in graphic design or related discipline.

Attendance at Sydney Symphony concerts is encouraged
