Tales of Cyprus represents a personal and artistic crusade to investigate my parent’s homeland, as it existed before 1950. Through my original drawings and poster art I seek to reveal a way of life that was rich with tradition and cultural identity.

My parents’ generation will be the last of their kind to have witnessed and experienced the ‘authentic’ rural and traditional way of life in Cyprus. Sadly, this way of life – as they knew it – has all but disappeared – and will never return. The entire world has been irreversibly changed forever by computer technology, capitalism, globalisation, immigration, tourism, war, terrorism and an accelerated thrust to modernise our planet.

Tales of Cyprus is not just a Cypriot story but a southern European story. My parent’s homeland like many that existed in the south of Europe has all but disappeared. I hope my artwork can somehow provide a reminder of the glorious past and in doing so, help to pay tribute to a bygone era.
