Artist's Description

Eclectus roratus roratus

Taken this afternoon Egbert is still very much a baby, they take a long time to mature. He says “hello” & “Que Pasa” Spanish for what’s the matter. He sits on my shoulder at the PC, when I open a funny email laughing he laughs too!

Eclectus Parrots are closely associated with lowland tropical rainforest. They can be found northernmost islands in Torres Strait and eastern Cape York Peninsula, north Queensland and New Guinea region, from the Moluccas and Lesser Sundra Island, Indonesia, to New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.

These birds are sexually dimorphic, which means you can visually tell the difference between the sexes. Males are bright green with red and blue under their wings, and have an orange beak. Females have a bright red head, a purple back and chest, and have a black beak.

Thank you for looking.
