Artist's Description

Hesperocyon gregarius is an extinct genus of an early canid that lived in North America. Fossil evidence dates it to be at least 37 million years old. Hesperocyon genus existed for approximately 11.5 million years. It had short forelimbs, longer hindlimbs, long body and tail. It had proportions more like those of a civet or genet than those of a canid. It was approximately 80cm long.
