PONDERING LIFE (1 of 2)

The leaves are still green,
The lawn needs mowed.
I went for a walk,
and met a toad.
Afraid to touch it,
for fear of warts.
I sat down,
out of sorts.
I asked him the question,
should I die?
“Croak”, was his only reply.
Is there nothing for me to live?
Is there anyone who needs me to give?
To all my questions, he replied with a “croak.”
even when asked, “Is my life a joke?”
In time he grew bored, and hopped over yonder.
Leaving me alone, with thoughts to ponder.
Along came a caterpillar,
all fuzzy and gold,
To her, my life story was told.
She said I should change, as she would soon.
Find a place and make a cocoon.
One day I’ll be beautiful, as
she soon will be,
and everyone I will love, even me.
