MY JOURNEY HOME

I am numb, but not comfortably so,
I’m somewhere off in the distance,
somewhere I do not know.
Searching high, and searching low,
for a way to a home, I do not know.
Wandering around, aimless, without a clue.
Looking for meaning in life,
one that is true.
I feel weak, and fall to the ground.
I begin to crawl,
I am homeward bound.
With no sense of direction, I follow my thought.
I’ll never forget what is behind me,
and that for which I have fought.
I have survived, all kinds of weather, both wet and dry,
at times I collapse, wishing to die.
The sky seems to cry, as I go on my way.
Searching for a way out,
each and every day
My journey has been long, and it seems, it has no end.
Though I know I must make it through, for my heart to mend.
