A LONELY WORLD

Loneliness, it seems, can consume our souls,
leaving room for little else.
Wishing on wishbones, we wish only to make it through,
to the other side.
Yet it is uncertain, what lies before us,
still we must strive forward.
We long to reach our destination,
To where we do not know.
Though a glimmer of hope, found deep
within our eyes, says it will be a peaceful place.
A place where there are no walls to hurdle,
no cob webs in the corners of our minds,
and peace, joy and love, is plentiful for all.
No one who will degrade our very existence,
only to gratify themselves, and somehow
make up for their own shortcomings.
Yet they never seem to better themselves,
only to demean others, and cause more strife,
in this world we live in today.
It is no wonder, that many do not survive, and
their very lives are taken by their own hands.
We can hear them crying, yet most choose not to listen.
If we ignore their cries, we believe they will go away.
We say that time heals all wounds, though at times
we forget, that without effort, and a goal, time will destroy us all.
We somehow must pull ourselves together, to live as one.
This world will only survive if we end segregation, and love one another,
unconditionally, without reason.
