Moments under the Lights

Moving along the paths of concrete,
Step by step closer to my destination,
Looking straight ahead without eye contact,
Knowing I will hear from a friend quicker,
From the flip of a cell phone than on the street,
I walk the wild and unpredictable moods of the city.

Daylight from the lights, never ending,
Flashing and blinking throughout the Night,
Lights of advertisement, brighter being better,
To guide my way blocks away from home.
No stars to guide or wish upon,
Only the reference of products,
Better person assured to make me.

It’s the glow of the lights that energize,
The never-ending moment, no time to sleep,
That calls me to walk in the wild
Fascinated with the unpredictable moods,
Formulating my wishes, hopes to come true,
That contact, with a flip of the phone in the city.
