The Golden Age

The Golden Age. No more, no less. No more.
Gone, with it the hope of future as we were
Promised. Jaundiced is what it has become,
A sickly shade, not the brightness once envisioned.
You talk about Angels, sparkling gems of Heaven.
There is nothing but wastelands ahead. For now.
Not forever. Hunger, poverty, murder, rebellion.
And we sit sipping our lattes, gazing through
Windows that have been glazed with falsehoods,
Glorious pieces and fragments of bullshit. Here,
just within your grasp is reality. You can chose it,
Or not. Blood comes, blood goes, it is a drain
Upon us all. Realize life, death, then, now.
This is reality. Wake up, it may be your last chance.
