Artist's Description

As I worked with this piece, the form it began taking put me in mind of the Grail legend. In Christian mythology, the Holy Grail was the vessel which purportedly held the blood of Jesus which he spilled during and after his crucifixion. This Magickal ‘cup’ is said to have the power to heal all wounds, whether physical or Spiritual. A thought joined to the Christianized Arthurian mythology suggests that it may correlate to the discovery for the Holy Grail. This legend appears to be a blending of Christian folklore with a Celtic slant of a special Cauldron endowed with Magickal powers. What ever the evolution of the word ‘grail’ is, it is certain that it is closely associated with the Magickal Cauldrons of Celtic and Arthurian lore and mythology.
