Artist's Description

Even though this graveyard is still in use, it has headstones with dates going back as far as sixteenth century. This is the belfry of the ruined Priory of the Blessed Virgin, which was built in the twelfth century, C.E. There are many grave slabs of the 16th and 17th centuries throughout the grounds, and the site has two unique crosses. Apparently, there has been some misuse of the graveyard, since the first thing you see when entering is a sign which reads “Persons Tending Graves In This Cemetery Please Take Your Rubbish Home With You”.
