Artist's Description

Saint Colmcille, who commissioned the building of the monastery in Kells in the fifth century, was a contemporary of Saint Patrick and Saint Brigid. The Book of Kells was written almost in it’s entirety here. This High Cross, one of five in Kells, is one of the most beautiful in Ireland. The graveyard is in mostly good condition, with the exception of a few corners, and a bit of graffiti we discovered on one of the doors of the present day church.
