From our hotel window on Fremont Street in Old Vegas,
I could just see the top part of a Church Steeple and Bell Tower.
Nestled and holding it’s original ground over the many years, while the mammoth resorts started building around it.
Knowing the age of the area that is Old Vegas, I knew it would most likely be an old mission… and with luck it would have awesome statues.
By the second day I had become way too obsessed in going and finding this building.
I asked at the front desk which way I would go to find this place and off I went to solve the mystery.
It was indeed an old Spanish Mission and it did indeed have some incredible statues and sculptures.
This is just one of the many hand carved stone tributes to Mary and baby Jesus surrounding the mission.
My morning was spent looking into these faces and attempting to capture the passion of the artist who carved it.
Thanks for viewing my work.
