Artist's Description

The Great Bear Rainforest is a temperate rainforest in Canada that stretches along the British Columbia mainland coastal region from Vancouver Island to south east Alaska. It covers 32,000 sq. kilometres and half of this is protected. It is unspoilt and home to many species such as the grizzly bear, cougar and wolf. Most rely on the salmon that return to spawn in the fall making rivers an ideal spot to sight the locals. Fish ladders were added to help keep the cycle of fish going and the bears have learnt to use them to their advantage when catching dinner.
