Artist's Description

I think the viceroy butterflies are really neat, because of how they have changed their look to become similar to Monarchs. They mimic the colors and patterns of the monarch butterflies, because monarchs are actually toxic for birds to eat. The birds may get tricked in thinking the viceroys are actually monarchs, and so they will leave them alone.
The way to tell them apart is that viceroys have a curved black stripe on their hindwing, that monarchs don’t, and viceroys are usually smaller in size than the monarchs.
