Artist's Description

One of the many fruit street vendors, in the Lebanese capital..
At this time of the year, they are reappearing in loads, as a new batch of seasonal fruits have just been harvest.

In red, strawberries, for a thousand Lebanese lira the pack, which is less than one US $ for a handful of sweet fatty ‘bloody’ fraises.
“Fool” the green beans of this part of the world, which is eaten raw, appears to cost one dollar per one kilo; the tag also reads that it comes from the Bekaa region; as for the orange rounded fruits, it is called ‘akedeniah’, -with like 3 to 4 big seeds in and have no similar ‘cousins’ in the west for me to provide a translation ;)-akedeniah is for two dollars a box/ 3000 lira; as for the green peas, it’s marked 10 000 Lebanese lira, which is approximately $US 6 but you get for 4 kilos for that price..
the vendor has drawn his own tags with thick markers, to be viewed clearly by drivers.
