Artist's Description

The Mountain Ash isn’t really an ash but related to the rose family. Although the seeds of the Mountain Ash contain cyanide type toxins it can be made into wines and jams. This is an important food source for many in the bird family and the fruit stays on long into the winter. It can be found growing in the upper part of the Smokies, this image was made around Clingman’s Dome area.
