No escape...

You think that
Grief will pass you by
Fool!
You are
Not immune.
Push down
Turn around
Spend up
Over eat
Obliterate
It still sits there
A coiled snake
Waiting
To strike
And when you’re
Done and dusted
Cried the tears
Wrung the hands
Rent the clothes
And got on…
Out of the blue
Like a lance
It slices
You through
To your very core
Gutted
Turned inside out
Where the sky
Bares down
A weight too
Heavy to be born…
Quicksand drags
You under
Smothers
Stifles
Stops you in your tracks!
Good!
Feel it now?
Realise it
Absorb it
Allow it to be
A part of your chemistry
Not to be feared
Not to be endured
But to be embraced
And accepted
