The unknown future

The tree shed its leaves
Ring barked
It could no longer retain moisture
Unable to sustain the onslaught
Uprooted
It toppled over

The woman had been wandering lost in her wilderness
When she came upon its trunk
She could see that nothing could be done
Like she it was gone…
Lying down she made a grave amongst its dried leaves and tangled roots
Safe she let go her final vestige
A tear of great loss seeped into its trunk
Reaching inside her breast
She took out her heart and buried it beside herself
Courage and life intermingled…
Stretching out she wrapped her form around the trunk
She and the tree became one

Artist's Description

as humans we have brought about great destruction to the environment. “The Tree of Life” is an archetype symbol that can be found in many places and religions of the world and yet the deforestation of the planet is profound. Without them humanity will die… yet i can not give up…
