Outside in... rabbiting

So many rabbits!
What are they doing here?
And that one with its sharp incisors
Why does it beckon me?
Well they are only bunnies so how can it hurt?
I amble over to see what it wants.
A crooked paw points down at the dirt.
“You want me to go there?’
A dark dank hole yawned before my feet.
Red eyes danced in its furry head.
“But it’s scary down there…”
A smile lit the corners of its mouth.
“I could get lost…”
It did a gig and danced on the spot.
Turning around I was faced with a wall of mad rabbits.
What to do?
I couldn’t go over, under or through.
Drawing myself up to my full height
I turned sideways and marched, marched, marched!
Nothing and no one will determine my passage
This is my path and mine alone
I’m never going down a rabbit hole
Where madness reigns
No matter the temptation it is never safe!
Glancing back I see a great mound of dirt
A grave of sorts covering any craziness of thought
On it had seeded a most beautiful tree
Bearing fruits of hope and my future to see
My past my present converged into one
A rabbit proof fence twinkled in the sun.
