I was born in Boston, USA, while my father was finishing his architectural degree at Harvard. I returned to Maryland where both of my parents were from. My paternal grandmother and aunt were both well known artists and combined with my lifelong love of horses, made me want to become a horse artist. I wasn’t actually able to fulfill this ambition until later in life as I went to Australia to go to university, met an Australian and married, had two babies and then followed my husband onto a yacht to sail around the world, as one does when you are young and naive. After six and a half years we returned went back to work and then I decided to do what I had always wanted to and went to art school where I had a wonderful teacher who taught me to paint in the style of the Old Masters. This suited my desire to someday paint as George Stubbs did. He is my hero and my work is a meticulous layering of glazes in oil to give the feeling of depth and warmth and blood running under the skin.
