As I Read My Love Poem To You!

As I Read My Love Poem To You!

I sat down on the cool green grass, and placed a long stemmed rose beside you. You always adored the color red and the fragrance was heavenly. I carefully put down two wine coolers and two glasses, pouring one for you, then me. With love in my eyes, I unfolded my newest love poem written for you. As I began the first line, I could feel tears forming in my eyes. It was so hard finishing the last line, but I did.

I wiped my eyes and whispered, “I love you”. As I closed my mind, I recalled countless memories, each one filled with your smile and the softness of your kiss. I heard my tears falling upon the poem that was on my lap, held in my hands. Then, I placed my hand on your headstone, and whispered; “Oh My God, darling! I miss you more and more. More then anything I could write in a poem. More then I could ever tell you, if you were here”.

It was while my eyes were closed, that I felt your hand lift up my chin. And as I opened my eyes, I saw you lean down and kiss my lips, as if it were yesterday. I watched you kneel down and pick up the rose I brought for you and you breathed in its fragrance. My emotions poured from my heart, as I cried out, that I missed you so much. As you wiped a tear from my eye, you took your glass and took a sip of your favorite wine and smiled. “I’m speechless, darling, that after all this time you still come to see me that you continue to write for me”!

“Time after time you’ve brought me flowers, a glass of wine, a poem, all of which tell my heart, that even death could not break the love we shared”. Reaching down, I felt you squeeze my hand, and kiss me once again. “I will always remember the warmth of your love Raymond. I am sorry, but it is time for me to go”. I looked up at you with tear filled eyes, as I saw a beautiful glow surround you. “I promise to never stop loving you Raymond”, and your tears fell onto my poem, becoming one with mine. As you wiped away a tear, we waved good-bye to each other, and you were gone. Leaving me forever touched by the softness of your kiss, a kiss I’ve never forgotten.
