Artist's Description

The skies fill at dusk and dawn with the melodic call of the Sandhill Crane (Grus canadensis). The days and nights are spent in a nearby marshy conservation area. Feeding time brings the flock, numbering in the hundreds, to surrounding farm fields to feed on the husks and kernels of corn left scattered by the late season harvest. Groups of these magnificent birds provided us with many photo oportunities as the passed overhead on their way in and out of the fields.
