Sleep and Bang

Asleep on the front porch,
Headphones clamped firmly over ears,
An eski sits to the left,
It is full of beers.

The party was oh so boring,
I told my girlfriend that I probably wouldn’t come,
She asked for my help,
I slept when setup was done.

All the guests arrived,
Meanwhile I continued with my rest,
I may have been drunk,
I may have drunk too much Coopers Pale with zest.

Sitting in the Adelaide hills,
Opposite the skate park in Eden hills to be exact,
My pleasant and solitary New Years Eve,
Was disturbed.

Fffffffzzzzzshhhhhhhh,
BANG!
Fffffffzzzzzshhhhhhhh,
BANG!

Sparkler bombs on the lawn were set off,
It may have been fire-ban season but these kids had a blast,
All the smoke, the haze, the blinding white light,
I rolled over and turned my back to the grass.
