Artist's Description

So this might possibly be a California condor – huge bird once extinct in the wild and down to 22 individuals in captivity. As of 2014 (according to Wikipedia) there were nearly 600, and some of those reintroduced in the wild live in the Grand Canyon area. But, full disclosure – it’s more likely this is just a turkey vulture. Either way, it was loving soaring on the updrafts over the Grand Canyon somewhere between Mohave Point and Pima Point along the Rim Trail heading toward Hermit’s Rest.
