Artist's Description

Kaskaskia is a strange little bit of Illinois situated on the wrong side of the Mississippi River after it jumped its tracks during a flood in the 1880s. It also currently has a population barely over double-digits. It also-also boasts it’s very own “liberty bell” – an actual gift to the town by King Louis XV of France. And this building, which glowed all pretty when the sun was setting during my visit in November 2012. Also-also-also, just for the record, the church there really doesn’t want you to pick the pecans from their pecan tree. To the point where while I was there they had a poster board tied to the tree saying “Thou shalt not steal, this tree is the church’s, no pecan picking”. If I’d had a pen I’d have left them a note about the biblical concept of gleaning, but that’s just me.
