Artist's Description

Foxtail Palms are an Australian species found in the 1970’s when a aboriginal man showed them to scientists somewhere in Cape York. The palm gets its name from the shape if its leaves.

The tops of other foxtail palm trees are in the lower background of this shot. Getting back far enough to see the whole tree made the structure of the leaves somewhat obscure so I went for a close up of the leaves as that is the obvious defining feature of the tree. I do have other images that include an entire tree, but I decided that you need to know what you are looking at to work out that they are not just ordinary palm trees.
