Artist's Description

Christ Church, Church of England, Tarraville.

This church is a rectangular timber Gothic Revival which was built in 1856 to a design by J. H. W. Pettit and George Hastings.
It is the oldest wooden church still in service in Gippsland. Built entirely without nails from local timber it is one of the few reminders of the Tarraville township when it was the largest town in Gippsland in the 1850s.
