Artist's Description

A Consolidated PBY flying boat first flew in 1935 and was one of the most widely used seaplanes of World War II. Later it became an amphibious aircraft with the addition of landing gear. During World War II, PBYs (Catalina if RAF) were used for anti-submarine warfare, convoy escorts and air-sea rescue. This Photograph is of A PBY-5A “Miss Pick Up”.
A digital depiction of a PBY on a rescue mission, skimming the waves at sunset. Note there is also an RAF Catalina version of this image in my portfolio.
