Artist's Description

Wilbert, number 3806 is a Hunslet Austerity tank engine running on the Dean Forest Railway in the Royal Forest of Dean. This locomotive was built at the Hunslet, Leeds works in 1953. The engine was named “Wilbert” in 1987 by the Rev Wilbert Awdry in his honour. (The Rev W Awdry being famous for the Thomas the Tank Engine books). This image was captured just as the heavens opened and the driving rain is clearly visible in the photograph.
