Artist's Description

Laborer mixes paste in preparation for plugging holes and cracks in large charcoal kilns located in the hills of southern Missouri. All images in this series were originally photographed with color film. Each has been converted into a high quality b&w digital image. The natural light in this room is beautiful and in stark contrast to the filthy charcoal dust covering every surface of the entire facility. This is a picture from a series of photographs made at a charcoal plant in southern Missouri. And is part of a larger body of work detailing poverty in America.
