Artist's Description

Zion National Park has such amazing scenic wonders all along the eastern side as well as the tourist areas. This one shot shows how erosion has worn down the rock slabs and made very unique lines and carvings in the red rocks.

The eastern part of Zion is slickrock country and is filled with arches, alcoves, hoodoo formations, and wind and water sculpted rock. These rock slabs and formations are part of many limestone-formed hoodoos, unlike the ones at Bryce Canyon, that dot the hillsides and mix in nicely with the evergreen shrubs and trees. This photograph was taken up ahead of Checkerboard Mesa in the main slickrock country on the left side after hiking just a short bit.

This is one of three photos of Zion’s Eastern side in my portfolio.
