Artist's Description

Route 1 – Big Sur Coast Highway is one of those places you litterally just have to pause at and look, then spend a few days at and breath in the air. These cliffs become shrouded in fog in the morning and evening and provide some amazing views of the Pacific Ocean.

Big Sur lies between Monterey and Ragged Point along the coastline and this streach of road always has a peaceful feeling just driving along it. Some of the places you can visit are Kirk Creek and Plasket Creek, and one of my favorite places to go to is Pfeiffer Beach. This coastal beach area is actually hard to find, but you can ask directions finding Sycamare Canyon and that will lead you to it.

This photograph was taken just beyond the Pfeiffer Beach area nearing sunset. Taken with a 100mm lens at 6 secs to capture some motion and allow light to filter through as it neared darkenss.

Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park is also amazing and should not be missed. Some parts of the year you can see a waterfall falling into the Ocean! This park is about 30 miles south of Carmel. Enjoy your stay there and listen closely at night for the blue woodpeckers pecking on your roof :)
