Dividing Time

I walk through streets
cool with cleansing rain,
hear muttered curses
tossed in anger at purity.
They do not know
Athena’s tears are bathing me.
People make their way in haste,
a heedless flight through moments,
while I hoard mine in secret,
teasing out yesterday from tomorrow
and watching today melt at my feet.
