Ramblings of a Woman: On Spirals & Such

Spiral In, Spiral Out,
Know that we all spiral on, without a doubt.

-Starra Neely Blade

Spiraling Me

Sometimes we pull inwards.
Sometimes we reach or go out.
Many times we seem to be doing both.
(Or is that just me?!)

- Starra Neely Blade

This is a truth of the Spiral and its effects in or upon us, in and on our lives.

It is healthy to have that time to Seek Within, to rest, to think, or meditate.
Just as it is healthy to reach out into the world we live in, to be with others.
Balance is in the spiral also.
As is Life, Death, Re-Birth.
We are constantly re-creating ourselves.

We learn something new, a thought process, a way of being, thinking, doing. It changes us. We are changing. Inside and out. We shed ourselves quite literally in skin cells. So why not shed ourselves within our psyche, our souls?
I believe we do, that we can, and we ought to be seeking to constantly improving our whole selves.

I know that I have shed many things in my life; and overcome many a thing.
Hurts, anger, being a victim. I am a constantly changing person. The Spiral is a symbol for this.

I used to think we all were persons changing constantly. Some are, a lot do not seem to change at all. I have since realised others can get “stuck”, or that they choose to stay in a place that is unhealthy, or stagnate. For many reasons as well. Some I understand, some I do not, or cannot. It is still a choice, to not change. I know too that change to many is a scary thought.

I do not think that this is healthy. So I came to understand being around folks like that is not good or healthy for me. I may take some time before I extricate myself from these folks, or from the situations I am in, but I do so in the right time for me.
I might wish I had wised up sooner, but self-recrimination is not healthy either.
So I cut myself a break, forgive myself, and aim to do better in the future. To hold on to the wisdom I have gained through my experiences so as to make better choices, to not go backwards.

I am not always wise, nor smart about things. But I do want to do better. That wanting to do, and be better, or to better ones self truly does matters. Without the wanting to change, or making changes we never get off the ground or even get up out of our own muck. There is so much more to do, be, see, experience, learn, love. I may never get to all these things in this lifetime, I do intend to be open to them though.

The Spiral is also a Celtic symbol, it is one of the most prolific of Celtic symbols actually. It is a symbol of the “revolutions of time, space, stars, planets, and the way of natural progress” ~ Avia Venefica.

For me the Spiral symbolises my connection with my Celtic roots, ancestors, as well as the universe and stars. A constant rebirthing of Self, the healthy ego, and who and what I am, and am BE-coming. A symbol of my inner consciousness and outer consciousness too as described by Avia Venefica on her website and blog.

In its triple form the Spiral symbolises the Goddess in Her faces or forms of Maiden, Mother, and Crone. In its double form it symbolises balance as well as the equinox.

As I go on I learn more about what the Spiral means to others, to myself. I only know that I love this symbol. It is a symbol of my spirituality, my heart, my hearth. As well as a symbol of my Path as a Witch and more.
The Spiral is a symbol I have long considered as a Tattoo. It is a symbol that will continue to speak to and for me. I know I have more to say and write about this powerful symbol.

I write of Spirals, I see them everywhere I go. They appear to me in dreams. I am a Spiraling Woman too. I hope the spiral touches you in some way, a hopefully good and positive way.

Thanks for listening.
Spiral in, out, and on!
