Artist's Description

This close up of one of the beechnut trees in the woods of Rock Island State Park shows the often painful graffiti so often carved into the very soul of the woods.
Yet this tree and many others fight and survive. Just as mankind has, throughout it’s history, sought to place an indelible mark on the world around it and to thereby mark it’s own passing and it’s own survival.
