Artist's Description

said the spider to the fly. The poem by Mary Howitt was written in 1829, and the moral of the poem is still one worth considering.

This was captured in my yard in Tukwila, Washington (USA); everywhere I look, there are spiders building webs: in trees, in corners, in flower gardens. This is my first autumn in the Pacific Northwest, and I think I am more perceptive of them than most of my neighbors. I find spiders fascinating creatures and artists in their own right; their webs are instinctively symmetrical. These shiny specimens of handiwork and beauty are lethal as well, perhaps the perfect combination?
