Fear courses through my veins.
My heart beats faster,
Faster,
Faster still.
Relentlessly I try to break free.
Tossing.
Turning.
Breaking a sweat.
Seized in this endless nightmare.
Its getting hard to breath.
HELP! WAKEUP!
I scream through tears.
Its a useless gesture.
Am I stuck forever in this world of fear.
No matter how loud I scream no one can hear.
HELP! HELP!
Its useless still.
Terror seizes my soul.
All the life in me seems to drain.
Everything shifts.
Down I fall.
Falling, flailing down.
Down into an endless black hole.
Filled with demons and fear.
I give one last scream.
One last attempt.
I give it all I got.
I open my eyes.
A scream,
Then a gasp.
Looking around.
Suddenly I realize.
I fell from my bed.
Blankets are tangled about.
Drenched in sweat.
Breathing once again.
Awake once more.
It was only a nightmare.
The fear so real.
But only in my head.
However I wonder…
Would I have ever woken up…
If I hadn’t fell from my bed. ©
