Artist's Description

Hello. 20th June and number 171 in the ongoing 365 image mega series.

Life has a way of creeping up on you and landing one on you every now and then, a sucker punch that comes out of nowhere, knocking you for six, off your feet, right on your ass. It’s more the shock of the blow that hurts rather than the punch itself. Being blindsided by life can be more than enough to knock the wind from your sails and leave you with a feeling of “why bother”. I know. It’s happened to me a lot. Still does, if you want the truth. But you’ve got to get up, dust yourself off, stick an ice pack on the bruise that life has left you with and carry on, because life is beautiful, despite the knocks and punches it throws at you and it’s so worth living.

Two separate pictures taken tonight at home.

I had no idea where this was going when I started, I just took a series of pics of my hands and fingers then looking back through them I thought about a face being on the other end of that fist…so that’s what I did.

Both pics had levels and contrast adjustment and were converted to black and white after they were blended together. A texture layer was placed onto the new image and blended with overlay (twice) and partially erased. Some burning.

Canon EOS 20D / Canon USM 28mm-105mm lens.
