Artist's Description

We only show the face we want others to see, the mask we choose to wear to protect ourselves from the day to day onslaught of humanity. We wear it, smile through it, laugh through it, talk, cry and shout through it. We push it forward into the face – mask – of those around us in the hope that they will believe what is on display. When we are with others, friends, family, colleagues, our mask gives us the strength we think we need to face them, to interact with them. To love them. Then, when we are finally, thankfully alone we can take the mask off, peel it away and discard it for another night until dawn brings us another day to hide from.

The main image was porcelained, high passed and then the Leader method was used. Four layers of texture with various blending options and opacity levels were applied and then the whole thing was sepia toned. All my own images.
