Pencil, pen and ink on 90lb Bristol. A great example of a finished piece arriving out of a random sketch. One of my favorite exercises is to randomly throw some lines or shapes on paper. Sometimes I’m not even looking at the paper. I like to find images and pull them out of the random forms. I’m certain that there is some kind of sub-conscious exercise in this: I call it “combing my brain.”

great linework!
Thank you Thomas! It’s funny how quick sketches somehow turn into finished pieces.
Oh my gosh. This is amazing. I can actually see a likeness to your profile photo, except I only see a gentle man, not a scarey one. I would love love to see another self portrait in a peaceful mood. They would make a great pair. You are very talented.

Excellent – love the simplicity of design, and the forced perspective :)
Thanks for the feature, Zombie! I should scream more often!
This is really excellent and love your description.
Very much appreciated, JK.
Phenomenal work and analytical as well!
Thank you Lenora. Making art is the cheapest and best therapy around!
