Bygone Days Do Not The Answers Hold

R. James Buehner

Much too oft we opt to sight the past,
Even though we know it could not last,
What is this wanton hunger for our relay,
Into the land of yesterday?

What do we desire to greet?
What would be just so neat,
To see, feel, hear, smell and play?

Do we seek understanding as we relate,
And search for human life involving debates,
In the land of yesterday?

Can we really know what was thought?
And if we were to be properly brought,
Should we go by that beaten byway?

We should look to the changing future,
And not be a past history moocher,
For can we ever really get to that road that lay,
Into the land of yesterday?
