The Fright in the Night

As the darkness gathered all around,
The Hero laid on the cold ground.
He touched his head to know the hurt,
As he lied his face in the dirt.

The rain pummeled his black clothes,
Would he fight or leave his nasty foe.
As he nursed his cuts and bruises,
He had to decide what he chooses.

His head pounded so terribly.
The pain inflamed unbearably.
The gashed wound had blood raging,
As though made by the act of raping.

His humiliation was near complete,
This hero was to close to being beat.
The power in him was sucked dry,
Though the villain ner batted one eye.

His foe did not appear to give a care,
That was more than his soul could bare.
He had struggled to save the lives of the dead,
The villain had been messing with his head.

What had caused this behavior,
He did not chose to be the savior?
He was only doing what was right,
He was the protector of the night.

His enemy was as crazy as could be,
This much any decent man could see.
There was no rhyme or reason to his wrath,
He could not understand evil’s path.

The chase had not ended well,
He felt as though he were in hell.
He had told the evilness to go,
That is when he received the blows.

The man had laughed at his empty threats,
And then caused many senseless deaths.
The hero could see he was not normal,
For he possessed no rules, values, or morals.

The hero knew he could not tarry long,
This evil must cease before the next dawn.
He could not allow himself tobe driven mad,
And run into the same sickness this villain had.

He could not allow this issue to languish,
Nor watch as the city died in anguish.
This much was beyond certain,
He could not create such a vile burden.

One hero will in the night defend,
And bring this to its proper end.
For this hero chooses to fight,
To save his city from all evil blight.
