HP choice end of year game

Over in the homepage chat thread a fun gang of people put together homepage layouts, chat, find new ways of selecting the 8 images for the home page and hope that Red will see their selections and use them. I drop in there now and then and found that there was a sort of game underway to choose 8 images that represented personal aspects of the chooser. It was interesting to see and read about the ones already completed and find out more about these bubblers …..and I decided to have a go myself….so here it is, my images and my explanations…go on over to the thread to see and read some more interesting things about great bubblers…scroll back a few pages as they are a bit spread out.

I didn’t really know where to start but I wanted to do this exercise …my daughter suggested I start with my favourites so I did. I guess any selection we do will say a lot about us.
I looked through my favourites and chose ones which really held me…there were more but this set actually worked out well together. I didn’t select them with particular aspects of myself in mind but worked out what those traits were from the images.
I’m in a time of change, if you had asked me to do this a few years ago it would have been quite different and I think I would have confidently set forth and described the things that are me. A lot of those things seem to have gone now, or be on the way out or changing.

1 the chair – I have a thing about chairs, like they are empty little people, waiting. I feel like this chair, alone and waiting, about to be sat on! and I always seem to have people sit on me and it’s about time I learnt how to avoid it!

2 the suitcases – I carry a lot of baggage around inside me, not that nasty sort of baggage that therapists would want to blame for everything or want to get rid of, I’m happy about my stuff…it’s all the stuff that fills me up and feeds my creativity. There is a lot of it and sometimes I wish I could feel empty like the chair (and sometimes I do…there you have it! I am a contradiction!)

3 the box – or is it a cheese? or a big block of butter? I want to reach out for things but I’m never sure what they are and I’m always afraid. People don’t see that, they think I am strong and confident. That’s why I’m happy to stay in my full suitcase or be the empty chair.

4 red underwear – I love red undies…so much that I wrote poem about them, which might become a song….I wrote a poem about chairs which has become a song, so why not! red makes me happy and I love lots of colour.

5 the elephant – I like the ancient knowledge and wisdom of the world, I like the links to the past, old writing, old music, old musical instruments, the craftsmanship of past times. I have a very good memory, too good! (hence the baggage!) and I love elephants (and animals in general)

6 the daydream – I like to curl up with my own thoughts, even if they are sad or unpleasant, I can always turn them into something better! I can waste a lot of time just thinking (but I don’t really consider it a waste) I find it a great luxury to do this and very comforting.

7 the parrot – I see things differently. I know that this is a picture of a bird with the beak pointing to the right but I keep seeing a creature with a large nose pointing to the left, a stripey shirt and an arm hanging down. It’s like an echo of the elephant. I perceive things differently (and am perceived differently to how I intend) in many situations and it continues to get me into great trouble!

8 the key – I would like to think there is a key to understanding, a password or a code that will make everything understandable, to make everything work smoothly….but I know there is not. Maybe there is a key to unlock a door that will let me move on through and past some of the things I have described above. I hope so.

Why not have a go at this yourself? over here
