Artist's Description

We were in Sault Ste. Marie for a few days over the March Break. As usual I couldn’t miss an opportunity to visit the shores of Lake Superior to see how the ice was melting and what interesting shapes it might take. This year was not very cold or particularly snowy in this part of the Lake so I didn’t expect to see much snow/ice but I was mistaken. Here, just north of Pancake Bay, the lake wasn’t frozen but there was ice along the shore. I was taken by the “iceberg” formed along the shore. It was interesting to see but it was only after I started walking towards it and breaking throught the thin ice and getting a “soaker” that I decided the best shot would be a low angle that took advantage of the breaks in the ice leading to the ice formation.
