Funny Old Man, gone

Funny old man.
So now you’re gone.
And we are left to
weep and remember
and plan your memorial.
You will have an amazing
memorial.
You were in the navy in WWII
You gave away so many Gideon Bibles
Thousands.
You swam every year for charity
including autumn 2008.
You had five children
sixteen grandchildren
nine great grandchildren
whom you nurtured and
enjoyed
A great sense of pride and
source of joy.
And now you’re gone.
You slipped away
when we weren’t looking.
But our hearts are full of
memories and faith.
Your legacy.
We are sad you are gone.
Also glad you are free
that you’ve thrown off
the bonds of suffering.
We are so proud of you
and of mum
and of what you have done
in your life
committed to Christ
to family
to people who cross your path in need.
We have no idea how many people
you have loved
who love you.
But we love you
and we love our memories
and our hope for an eternal
reunion.
Funny old man.
Sweet Dad.
Rest in peace.

Artist's Description

On Fathers Day, 21 June, 2009, James Clark, beloved Father, grandfather and greatgrandfather and friend, passed on to meet His precious Lord. We are devastated at our loss, but grateful that his suffering is ended. This is part two of a tribute to this lovely man.
